Just completed this mural on the Normal Heights Masonic Lodge in Normal Heights, CA. I donated this piece to the community and I'm stoked it came together thanks to the Normal Heights Arts Committee. 'The Guardian' represents nature and how it's connected to every living thing and the universe as well. The California Grizzly is extinct yet remains the symbol of the state, which is very sad. The balance between nature and humans must remain in tact or we will all fall.
Meet Claire, my newest mural for The Brim in Portland, Oregon. They are a new upscale apartment building on Ankeny street and Claire is there to look over the neighborhood and hopefully wink at you as you drive by...
Very excited to be featured on The Inertia's #creativelines gallery this month. Such a rad online source of information for surf, adventure, art, music and lifestyle. Very honored to be featured on the The Inertia... here's a little link to their profile of me. http://www.theinertia.com/music-art/why-these-ocean-inspired-murals-are-my-most-fulfilling-work/
Just completed a really cool project for JRK Properties, A 90ft bowling alley for a private condo residence in Oxnard, CA. This turned out really cool and I'm jealous it's not connected to my house!
Just completed "Lunar Tides" a mural collaboration with Marissa Quinn for the Cardiff 101 Mainstreet Association. This is a 70 foot mural behind Patagonia in Cardiff, CA. It was an awesome experience and it really engaged the community and it was a blast collaborating with such a cool artist like Marissa. Big thanks to Brad Smith, Austin Novy, Mizu, The James Brand, Guayaki, Vuori, Kind Bars, Natalie Suggs, Annika Walden, the crew at Patagonia and everyone else involved!
My Mizu Advocate amigo, Chris Benchetler, invited me to Mammoth Mountain to do a collaboration on a mini-mural to go on the side of his sprinter van for his upcoming GoPro series called the Art of AdVANture. He's a pro skier and all around awesome guy, this was a fun project and I can't wait to see the show! Follow: @chrisbenchetler | Photos: @foxonarock
I recently was connected to the San Diego Union Tribune to do a Q&A with them. Really fun and interesting questions! Below is a link to the interview.
Just completed a mural for the Carlsbad Art Wall in Carlsbad, California on the side of Señor Grubby's restaurant. Bryan Snyder contacted me to be the first artist of 2016 to do a mural on this rotating art wall and I was very stoked. It will live there for two months until the next artist gets to do their thing on it. It was a blast to paint...
Just had the opening for my solo art show at Vuori Clothing's pop-up shop in Encinitas, California. I put a lot into this show to make it cohesive, detailed and of course, balanced. The themes of this show are the balance of humans and the elements of nature as we float through this world. Everything has it's place and connection to each other.
The big piece, "Balance of the Elements" is a twenty panel 20"x20", acrylic and aerosol on canvas piece that was painted all at one time so the whole background connected and built depth. Then I painted each canvas individually adding a focused element to complete the entire piece.
The show will be on display until the end of December.
Just painted this fun mural for a new Hawaiian restaurant called The Lani. Epic food and a great atmosphere in North County, San Diego. Check them out!
Did a limited edition t-shirt for Republic of Encinitas. I love this town and this small brand really taps on the nostalgia and love that so many people also have for this little haven. Get them while they are hot! http://www.republicofencinitas.com/mens/skye-walker-mens
Reclamation was created for the 2015 TEDxPortland event. The piece was also included in the Book of Tomorrows and art show that coincided with TEDxPortland. There were 57 artists involved in the event and I was honored to be one of them.
I'm really excited and honored to be a contributing artist for TEDx Portland on May 30th, 2015. The theme for this years event is Tomorrows and it looks like it's going to be an epic event, not to mention being in the event with so many talented artists that I admire. More to come soon...
Just completed this 40ft x 30ft mural for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad and the City of Carlsbad. An amazing project and I got to paint the mural with my father which made it even more special.
My painting "Transmarine" along with a little write up on my mural for the HUB in San Diego was featured in this weeks SD City Beat... so stoked on this and honored too.
Just completed this mural on the front of the California Coast Credit Union in The Hub Marketplace in Hillcrest in San Diego, CA. 35ft x 15ft and painted with Montana Gold spray paints. The shopping center is getting a big make over, including several murals by San Diego artists. I'm very humbled and stoked to have been involved in this project.
The National Apartment Association just came out with their "Best of Apartments" in their Units magazine and they listed my mural in Austin, Texas that I painted last year for Mint Urban Apartments as the best 'Unique' art in their mag! Stoked on this.
Got an art show coming up on July 26th, 2014 at Fowler's Boutique in Cardiff, CA. My friend Bryson Stein and I are making a fresh batch of new art and it should be a good time!
Just finished this big project with www.paintencinitas.org and it was a big success. Stoked on the positive vibes and support! The time-lapse was shot on a couple GoPro Hero 3+ cams on 10 second intervals.
I've been working on a new mural in Leucadia, California in conjunction with www.paintencinitas.org. This story just came out in the Encinitas Advocate and it was a nice little piece about the mural and what we are doing. http://www.encinitasadvocate.com/news/2014/jun/25/leucadia-mural-skye-walker-art/
